Nice to meet you,

I'm Maxx

I'm a product designer, though I've never kept it in a narrow box, working where design meets technology, storytelling, and live experience. My whole career I've been drawn to complex, important ideas and the challenge of making them approachable, working in moments of fun and wonder whenever I can.

That instinct has taken a lot of shapes. Apps and websites, browser-based 3D worlds, touch tablets in museums, large scale interactive light and sound sculptures. I'm happiest on the projects that don't have a clear job title yet, the ones that live between disciplines where nobody's quite sure who should own them. That's usually where the unexpected lives.

Still curious?

For five years I co-founded and led product design at NOWHERE, a browser-based platform where people gathered in real-time 3D spaces instead of a grid of faces. Nearly 150 thousand people came through, for music festivals, conferences, team standups, even memorials. I led the team while keeping my hands in the actual work, and along the way became a co-inventor on the patent behind it.

Around and between the bigger roles, that same instinct has pulled in two directions. On one side, immersive and interactive work: 360 documentaries (one won an Emmy and a Peabody), AR for public art, installations people could physically walk into and play with. On the other, quieter product work with real stakes, like the kind of tool someone trusts with their retirement, or the systems that keep a live platform standing when a thousand people show up at once. Different surfaces, same job. I like taking something really hard, technically or emotionally, and finding the version that feels intuitive from the start and makes a real impact.

Lately I'm drawn toward work that matters, where good design can change how people understand something, or what they do next. I'm especially interested in climate and impact-driven teams, but what really gets me is an ambitious idea nobody's cracked yet. If you're building one, full-time or freelance, I'd love to hear about it.

I’m especially interested in projects that sit between people and complex systems, from climate and infrastructure to new forms of communication and interaction. I’m always interested in bold, unconventional ideas that don’t fit neatly into a category. If you’re building something meaningful and need a thoughtful, hands-on creative partner, I’d love to talk.
